What is that never-ending To Do list really getting you?
You solve ten problems only to automatically add ten more.
This used to be a way of life for me. Actually, it often still is. It’s all too easy to get caught up in the loop of constantly working on a list of tasks and chores. But what does that really bring to our life?
What if this is just a subconscious habit and not a sign of productivity? What if those things on that list don’t really affect your life at all?
Because if your life is filled with things you have to do first, then you never have time or space for creating anything new. And creation is the energy that actually produces any change at all in our quality of life.
What if instead of thinking each morning: “what do I have to get done today?”— try thinking “what do I want to create today?”
Instead of clearing out your inbox as a chore everyday, what if you reframed that activity in your mind to “what interesting or inspiring new things am I going to read or write in my email messages today?”
I once heard a snippet of Joel Osteen’s show years ago that stuck with me. I wasn’t a viewer of his show but for some reason my remote stopped on it during a mindless session of TV surfing during a time where I felt pretty lost and apathetic towards my life (it’s amazing where God hides little kernels of truth for you when you need to hear them).
He said that “you should learn to find joy in even the mundane daily activities of life. When you vacuum, find joy in vacuuming! Instead of moaning and groaning till the chore is done, play music, turn it into a game, whatever works for you to make it enjoyable.”
And do you know I remember those words every time I vacuum to this day? And because of that little trick of reframing a problem into a source of joy and creation, I have had some of my most inspirational ideas occur while vacuuming. All because I turned a problem into a creation.
And that, my friends, is how you create true change in your life. Abundance doesn’t mean being surrounded by your every want, it means seeing the abundance in everything that is already around you.
Here’s to expanding thoughts full of abundance,
